| Safe, Stylish, Quality Horse Floats |
The BusinessIs the basic design a known quantity?Yes. The design is based on the principles of Westfalia in Germany and Denmark, which has been around for 20-25 years in Europe How long has Trailux been operating?Since the early 90's. Are there spare parts in New Zealand for the BPW running gear?Yes,Spares are held in stock. MeasurementsHow heavy is the float?Ultimate 340 - Weighs 780kg without matting and approximately 900kg with matting. What are the float's dimensions chest to rear cross bar? They are adjustable from 2m to 1750 cm How wide is the float inside? It is 1650mm. Two Clydesdale horses can fit inside with no problem. What is the height of the float? How much headroom is there?Ultimate 340 - The height is 2300mm. What is the overall height? The float is 2800mm from the bottom of the tyres to the top of the roof. What is the Internal Length?Ultimate 340 - 3400mm What is the total length?Ultimate 340 - From the towball to the end of the vehicle is 5 metres. What is the Towball size required? It is 50mm. Standard FeaturesWhat is the floor made of?It is a fully sealed 3mm Marine grade Aluminum floor. The inside is like a bathtub with a drain hole at the front. This means that there are no joints or seams, so moisture can't collect and therefore the chassis wont rust. What are the sides of the float made of?4 layers of glass, plus 12mm of hardwood marine grade ply then fibreglassed on the inside. If a horse kicks the sides of the float, there will be no damage. The average float on the market is made of straight plywood. Does the fibreglass crack? It will only get damaged in a vehicle accident and can be repaired easily at the Trailux workshop or by a local boat builder. What is the rubber on the main floor? It is 16mm thick solid rubber matting. The mat is fully removable. It can be taken out or left in when the float is washed out. What is on the tailgate?10mm Non slip rubber. The base is 5mm marine grade aluminum. What size are the wheels? They are 14 inch but have the same running diameter as a 15-inch tyre. This means that they are much cheaper to replace when the time comes. Is the chassis galvanised?Yes, hot dipped. Are there tie offs on the outside?Yes. They double as the quick release mechanism for the chest bar. We can also add 2 more at the rear of the float if required. Are there tie offs on the inside?Yes, there is a loop on the quick release of the chest bar. How big is the saddle bin?It is about 1.5metres cubed. It can fit at least 4 or 5 saddles. Can we put Western saddles on the saddle rack?Yes,A larger type of rack which is not mounted on the door can be fitted. How does the internal light work?It works off auxiliary power from the tow vehicle or wired into tail lights. The light has its own switch. Extra FeaturesCan I have a window in the front?Yes, we can do that as an optional extra. The idea behind not having one in our standard design is to avoid horses getting startled by oncoming traffic. Does the float have a water tank?It is an extra, and carries 32 ltrs of Water. We can also supply bigger tanks if required. Can I have pressured water?Yes, we can install a 12-volt pump What colour does the float come in?It comes in White with pin striping of your Colour choice. We can do other colours at an additional cost, but we recommend lighter colours for both maintenance and heat purposes. Safety FeaturesHow does the ventilation system work? There is an intake vent at the front and a second vent at the rear of the roof( Xtenda 440 has 3 vents). When the float is closed up, there is also a gap between the tailgate and the upper hatch. On a particularly hot day, you can travel with the upper hatch up. Additional rotary vents can be added if required How does the braking system work?It has a mechanical override giving you 3000kg braking capacity with an auto release system. Which means that you don't have to get out of the car when reversing. It also has a brake away system. How does the float travel empty? As well as it does loaded. This is because of the BPW rubber suspension axle system with 4 wheel shock absorbers. Also, the aerodynamic shape makes the float more wind resistant. Do the hydraulic struts last?Yes. We have had very few problems with them. They are not standard struts like on a motor vehicle, but are specially designed high pressure struts. Thus, if a horse kicks the tailgate, it can't fly back. The hydraulic system controls all movement. There are service agents all over New Zealand. What kind of vehicle can tow the float?Any 4WD will pull the float easily and other vehicles from a 3 litre petrol car upwards will have no problem. Sales InformationHow much is a Trailux? The price actually depends on your requirements and individual finishing touches. Can you tell me a bit about your needs, distances to be travelled, how your horse loads etc. If I order a float, how long will it take? There is a 2-3 week lead-time on the construction of a float. This depends on present stock. Where can I see a Trailux Float? If you tell me where you are based, I will organise for you to see one. |
